C-HIGHER partners with nonprofits to create history/heritage-themed games that tell insightful stories about the past, and/or meaningfully engage with cultural heritage. We organise cultural events and educational projects, leveraging games as tools for learning, community building, and cultural expression. Our collaborations include both digital and analog games for museums, heritage centers, and civic organizations—ranging from large state institutions to small grassroots NGOs. In today’s increasingly challenging political landscape, we recognise the growing role of games in the defence and resilience sectors—as instruments for crisis simulation, resilience planning, counterpropaganda, and peace education.
Internally, we are proud to work with the student club “UGranie” [university gaming], based at the Faculty of History but recruiting members UG-wide. About 200 people strong, it has been around for 2 years. They organise game nights, help out as volunteers at conferences, attend student events at other universities. In November 2024, their board members wrote two grants for an in-house student project competition, winning the first and the second prizes. Moreover, C-HIGHER has inspired the creation of a Transformative Games Section within the student club Politicus at the Faculty of Social Sciences.
Outside the university, in our first four months we have collaborated with:
- Museum of the Second World War in Gdansk
- Polish Center of Discovery and Learning
- Foundation for the Development of the University of Gdansk
- Games Research Association of Poland
- Magnus Ducatus Foundation
- Fundacja Żywej Historii
