  • Unconference on Games with History and Heritage (22-23. February 2025)
First organised in February 2025, UGHH is a meeting point for scholars, designers, publishers, educators, museum professionals, students, and all others with a professional interest in history- and heritage-themed games. The unconference format encourages informal dialogue, creative collaboration, and cross-sector networking. It is a small, participant-driven event – no crowds and no lectures. People come here to make connections, join debates and hands-on workshops, forge partnerships, and explore opportunities for joint projects.

  • Games of War (24. February 2025)

This annual conference brings together researchers, industry professionals, and game creators engaged in projects developed in response to the 2014/2022 Russian aggression against Ukraine. Organised in collaboration with Ukrainian and Belarusian partners, the event has been held at the Faculty of History, University of Gdańsk, since 2024 – always on the sombre anniversary of 24 February. The conference follows a hybrid format, combining on-site and online participation.

Partners: Kharkiv National University of Economics (Ukraine), European Humanities University (Lithuania), WSG University in Bydgoszcz (Poland), and the Magnus Ducatus Foundation (Belarus-in-exile).

  • In-house game jams

Internal game jams organised for students are an integral part of our educational programme, scheduled strategically in the 3rd and 5th semesters. We haven’t yet had a 3rd semester before 2025/2026, so we have to wait for it… or do we?

The first-ever cohort enrolled in Historical Game Design in 2024/25 received a special treat: a welcome game jam co-organised and hosted by the Museum of the Second World War. Registered as an official Global Game Jam site, the event ran from 24 to 26 January 2025 in the unique “Night at the Museum” mode, with sleeping quarters available on site around the clock.
